Jpop Mix: ℃-ute, Gamusha Life/The Middle Management/Turn The Next Corner

℃-ute is one of those groups that I have been following for a while now. I first really got into them in high school. I stumbled across their songs, "Massara Blue Jeans" and "Ookina ai demotenashite". I remember finding the songs extremely addictive and fun to listen too. Despite their young ages,℃-ute turns 10 years old this year. With this year being their 10th anniversary, their first release of 2015 is a triple A single (meaning that all three songs are main tracks, receiving the same amount of promotion).

℃-ute has always praised for their good performances and great teamwork. When watching them live, it's easy to see that they are veterans in the idol business and they are admired for their professional and sleek performances. Despite having more of a "cool" vibe in their music these days, ℃-ute still releases cuter songs, normally reserved for younger groups in the agency. This single gave us a bit of both worlds as well as a ballad in order to showcase how well-rounded ℃-ute are as a group and as individuals. Without further ado, let's take a look at the three title tracks.

Gamusha Life is a very heartfelt song for any ℃-ute fan. The lyrics speak to their 10 year career and even reference their younger selves that were unsure and scared of the path they had chosen. It also references the loss of a few members across the years, who went on to different paths in life. The song has a very uplifting tone to it, and is nostalgic in a good way. The lyrics and composition really deliver the feelings of looking back at the career of ℃-ute and looking forward to what they will do in the future. The music video is full of color and smiles and for longtime fans, you can spot the initials of former members on the splash-covered banner that has the member's names written on it. It's a great song for the occasion and very fun to listen to. 5/5 stars.

The Middle Management brings "cool ℃-ute" to the forefront. I LOVE cool ℃-ute. So, this may be a bit biased, haha. What I really love about this song is that the main vocals are actually taken by Saki and Mai, the two members who sing first and who usually sing backing vocals to the main three vocalists (Airi, Mami and Chisato). I loved to see them featured a bit more. The girls all look very chic in the music video and the song is just completely my cup of tea. This is probably the song I repeat the most (mostly because I like to pretend to dance along with it) Another 5/5 for me.

Finally, we come to Turn The Next Corner. This is more of a ballad, which really showcases the voices of the members. The lyrics are very beautiful and the song is delivered in a very powerful manner. I love the use of strings in the back, I feel like they really make the song come alive. Despite all of the praise I'm placing on this song, it was my least favorite of the three. This is just due to personal choice however, since the song is still extremely solid and very beautiful. 5/5.

Needless to say, this is one of my favorite releases of 2015 so far. A 5/5 all around for this single. I felt like each song was worthy of standing on it's own as a separately released single and that is what a Triple A single should be. Leave it to ℃-ute to show how it's done. I really hope ℃-ute will continue to perform together for at least a few more years to come. It would be great if they could transition from an idol group to just a girl group but the girls still have some time left before they have to make that decision. For now, I'll go back to enjoying this amazing single.
